When I started this social media journey, less than 2 years ago, my goal wasn’t to make money.

You see, with almost 26 years of experience in the online marketing field, I had built enough sources of recurring income to not have to work any more.

I had reached a point of financial freedom where I didn’t have to worry about money.

2️⃣ Make sure your plan is practical, sustainable, and includes measurable and time-bound goals.

3️⃣Stay consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to sticking to your plan. Aim for progress, not perfection, and take small, consistent steps towards your goals

People often ask me, as a dad and granddad with decades of global business experience, why is it that I remain so actively involved in the fast-paced world of social media marketing? Haven't I earned a break? With countless dynamic and talented individuals shaping the future of social media, why do I choose to stay in the game?

My reasons are threefold:

1️⃣ I ventured into social media out of boredom. After retiring, I realized how the tranquility of retirement can feel monotonous when you've led an active, bustling life.

2️⃣ My continuous engagement is driven by my heartfelt care for the younger generation.

3️⃣While the internet is rife with knowledge, not everything that glitters is gold. There's a lot of "crap" out there and many brilliant marketers (but not as adept in business as they claim to be) are selling courses that don't always deliver on their promises. It's important to be cautious.

And so, with the experience (and the little wisdom) I've amassed throughout my life, people often come to me for advice, and I love that I am able to guide them, highlight potential obstacles they might run into, and share strategies to overcome them.

Got a year? Let’s make a million!

This claim is often made. The amount may change, but the implication is that the promises of untold financial freedom are there for the taking.

I am not saying that none of these promises are beyond reach, but in the era of keyboard warriors, allow this old man to caution you and take into consideration the following:

- False hope: If the claimant has only had a small percentage of clients achieve this success, or if these results are not typical, then advertising this as a standard outcome can give false hope.

- Responsibility: If entrepreneurs do not hit the $1million mark within 12 months, who's responsible? Is it the entrepreneur for not executing properly, or the consultant for not providing adequate guidance?

- Proof of claim: The most direct question is whether the claimant can genuinely demonstrate repeated success in helping
clients achieve this outcome.

- External factors: Success in entrepreneurship is influenced by myriad factors: market conditions, competition, unforeseen global events, etc. Claiming to help entrepreneurs hit a specific financial target within a specific time frame
oversimplifies the complex nature of business.

Final thoughts: Teaching someone to make money is much like teaching someone how to cook. In the latter example, you can give the exact recipe to be followed to prepare the most exquisite dish, but then it’s up to the student to use their own creativity and skill to make good on that recipe.

Whatever you do, make sure you ask all the right questions before counting your next million dollars.

This social media chef has a thriving business now

This social media chef has a thriving business now, but it wasn't always that way.

When she first contacted us to manage her various social media accounts, her main struggle was that despite posting reels, and carousels every day, she wasn’t able to really grow her business. Her follower count was going up, but she couldn't justify the work it took to produce.

Her content was excellent, and the engagement on her posts was decent, if of the more generic persuasion, from very helpful folks who had no intention of buying anything from her.

She needed more…

So we introduced to her to the concept of stories and how they can be used to connect with her audience on a more personal level. And drive traffic to her website and book appointments.

We then worked with her to develop a strategy for using these stories. We helped her identify the types of stories that would be most engaging for her audience, ran all kinds of A/B tests to see which ones were better received by her audience and we helped her create a schedule for posting these stories.

She hasn’t looked back since.

2️⃣ Big news on the work front! 📈 I’ve been fortunate enough to welcome two incredible new clients aboard, big accounts, and they entrusted me with handling their social media presence. 🤝 It’s been a whirlwind of excitement and creativity, but it did keep me on my toes this week! 😅 And probably the weeks ahead!

3️⃣ We all need a little time off to recharge, and my fantastic assistant decided it was her turn for some well-deserved vacation days! 🏖️ I’m so happy for her, but I must admit, things got a tad busier without her efficient support! 😄

4️⃣ Okay, confession time! 🙈 I may or may not have allowed my notorious Attention Deficit Disorder to lure me into the mesmerizing world of NOTION. 📚 Soo… I started working on a second brain project, and boy, did it take me on a wild journey! 🌪️ Blame it on my assistant (just kidding!) for not keeping me in check! 😜
